Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood is going to be one of the hottest costumes this Halloween! The easiest way to dress up like Sookie is to start with the “Inspired by Sookie” set from the HBO Store:

The Sookie set features a Merlotte’s Bar and Grill logo shirt and apron just like the ones that Sookie wears in the television show. You can buy it in size small through 3X-Plus. Pair it with a pair of short black shorts and wear your hair up in a blond ponytail. You can also buy the Merlotte’s Logo t-shirt separately. According to HBO, Sookie also wears black Nike tennis shoes like these:

If your hair isn’t blonde or isn’t long enough, you’ll need a wig. This one is from BuyCostumes.com and would work pretty well because Sookie’s blonde hair is a big part of her whole look:

If you want to go a little bit further, you could add a couple of vampire bites to your neck. Try using a red marker for a free option. You could actually use the bloody bite mark on your neck and the tattoos in other places like your inner thigh or wrists. I’m pretty sure that Sookie had vampire bites on both (as well as many other places!).

For those of you anxiously awaiting the next Sookie Stackhouse novel coming May 2010, I have good news! You can get a sneak peek at chapter one of Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris on her website.

The first chapter is really pretty much a recap of the last book with a little bit of the setup of the new book: Amelia is going back home, Claude is mourning his sister’s death, and Tara is five months pregnant. Sookie is in love with Eric but questioning their relationship for various reasons.

Although the sneak peek doesn’t give much away about the plotline, it does excite me to get a glimpse into what I am sure will be another page turner in the Sookie Stackhouse series!

Although we don’t have much information yet (or even a cover!) we do know that the next Sookie Stackhouse Novel will be titled “Dead in the Family” and is set to release on May 4, 2010. This will be the 10th book in the “Southern Vampire” series by Charlaine Harris.  You can pre-order the hard cover version from Amazon right now for $17.13 (list price $25.95).
